Technische Defekte bremsen Dauenhauer beim Heimrennen aus

Am vergangenen Wochenende vom 20.-22. September fand für den Mörlenbacher Tobias Dauenhauer und sein Team Bremotion das Heimspiel der NASCAR Europameisterschaft in der Motorsportarena Oschersleben auf dem Programm. Vor über sechzehntausend Zuschauern vor Ort wurde der NASCAR GP Germany in der Magdeburger Börde ausgetragen.

Sichtlich zuversichtlich startete Dauenhauer und sein Team in das Rennwochenende vor heimischer Kulisse. Doch es lief leider alles anders als geplant. Die erste Trainingssitzung am Freitag musste man aufgrund eines Getriebeschadens am EuroNASCAR Chevrolet Camaro aussetzen. Somit blieb nur noch die zweite und letzte Trainingssitzung am Freitag, um die optimalen Einstellungen des Rennfahrzeuges herauszufahren. Hier belegte Dauenhauer den neunten Platz.

Am Samstagmorgen startete das Qualifying. Der 26-Jährige verpasste hier nur knapp den Einzug in die Superpole (Top 10 des Qualifyings) und belegte den elften Platz. Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein startete am Samstagmittag dann das erste Rennen. Der ADAC Hessen-Thüringen Förderpilot erwischte hier einen guten Start und konnte sich in den ersten Kurven direkt auf Platz 6 vorkämpfen. Dann jedoch die Ernüchterung. Durch eine Berührung mit einem Kontrahenten ging die Servolenkung des V8-Boliden defekt und Dauenhauer musste sein Rennfahrzeug in der Box abstellen.

Durch den Ausfall im Samstagsrennen ging der Deutsche von der 23. Startposition in den zweiten Rennlauf am Sonntagnachmittag. Auch hier konnte Dauenhauer die Traktion seines Chevrolet Camaros optimal auf den Asphalt bringen und sich schon innerhalb der ersten Runde bis auf Platz 13 vorkämpfen. Mit zunehmender Renndistanz verlor der ADAC Hessen-Thüringen Förderpilot jedoch an Geschwindigkeit und konnte sein Rennfahrzeug nicht mehr richtig lenken. Dauenhauer musste folglich auch im zweiten Rennlauf das Auto in der Box abstellen. Es stellte sich heraus, dass ein Gewinde vom Querlenker am Rahmen gebrochen ist und eine Weiterfahrt somit unmöglich war.

Dauenhauer nach dem Rennen: „Sportlich gesehen ist das leider ein sehr frustrierendes Wochenende für uns mit den beiden Ausfällen. Leider gibt es jedoch auch solche Wochenenden im Sport. Abhaken und nach vorne schauen. Trotzdem möchte ich mich für die zahlreiche Unterstützung von all den Zuschauern und Motorsportbegeisterten vor Ort bedanken, es war einfach überwältigend.“

In knapp drei Wochen steht das letzte Rennwochenende der NASCAR Europameisterschaft auf dem Programm. Vom 11.-13. Oktober findet der NASCAR GP Belgium mit den zwei letzten Finalläufen der Saison 2024 auf dem Circuit Zolder statt.

Technical issues slow down Dauenhauer at his home race

Last weekend, from September 20 to 22, Tobias Dauenhauer and his team Bremotion had their home race in the NASCAR European Championship at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The NASCAR GP Germany was held in front of over sixteen thousand spectators.

Dauenhauer and his team started the race weekend visibly motivated, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned. The first practice session on Friday had to be skipped due to a gearbox failure on the EuroNASCAR Chevrolet Camaro. This left only the second and final practice session on Friday to work out the optimal setup for the race car, where Dauenhauer finished in ninth place.

The qualifying session took place on Saturday morning, and the 26-year-old narrowly missed entering the Superpole (Top 10 in qualifying) and secured 11th place.

On Saturday afternoon, under bright sunshine, the first race started. The ADAC Hesse-Thuringia sponsored driver got off to a good start and fought his way up to 6th place in the first few corners. However, disappointment followed shortly after. Due to contact with a competitor, the power steering of the V8 race car failed, and Dauenhauer had to bring his vehicle into the pits.

As a result of the failure in Saturday’s race, the German driver started from 23rd position in the second race on Sunday afternoon. Once again, Dauenhauer managed to put the traction of his Chevrolet Camaro to good use and fought his way up to 13th place within the first lap. However, as the race progressed, the ADAC Hesse-Thuringia driver began to lose speed and was unable to steer the car properly. Consequently, Dauenhauer had to retire the car to the pits in the second race as well. It was discovered that a thread on the control arm had broken off from the frame, making it impossible to continue.

After the race, Dauenhauer said: "From a sporting perspective, this was a very frustrating weekend for us with both retirements. Unfortunately, such weekends do happen in racing. We’ll move on and look ahead. I still want to thank the many fans and motorsport enthusiasts who came out to support us, it was simply overwhelming."

In about three weeks, the final race weekend of the NASCAR European Championship is scheduled. From October 11 to 13, the NASCAR GP Belgium will take place at Circuit Zolder, featuring the last two races of the 2024 season.
