Dauenhauer zeigt starke Aufholjagd
Nach vergangener Sommerpause fand am letzten Wochenende vom 25.-27.08. der NASCAR GP Czech Republic der NASCAR Europameisterschaft im Autodrom Most statt. Der Mörlenbacher Tobias Dauenhauer ging hier erneut mit seinem Team Bremotion im #99 Chevrolet Camaro an den Start.
Schon in den beiden Trainingssitzungen am Freitag konnte er unter trocken warmen Bedingungen mit Platz 2 und 7 eine gute Ausgangslage schaffen. Da es in der Nacht regnete, startete das Qualifying am Samstagmorgen unter nassen Verhältnissen. Dauenhauer fühlte sich auf nasser Fahrbahn in seinem V8-Boliden sichtlich wohl, konnte im 15-minütigen Zeittraining den 1. Platz erzielen und qualifizierte sich somit für die Superpole (Top 10 des Zeittrainings). Hier erreichte der ADAC Hessen-Thüringen Förderpilot den 6. Platz, da man sich mit dem Reifenluftdruck bei zunehmend trockenerer Fahrbahn etwas verkalkuliert hatte.
Von Startplatz 6 ging es somit am Samstagmittag bei strahlendem Sonnenschein in den ersten Rennlauf. Dauenhauer erwischte einen guten Start und konnte direkt Positionen gut machen. Doch dann kam es in der ersten Kurve zu einem Crash mehrerer Teilnehmer, bei dem Dauenhauer unverschuldet involviert war und im Kiesbett strandete. Feierabend nach 500 Metern...
Der Mörlenbacher ließ den Kopf nicht hängen und fokussierte sich auf den Rennsonntag. Hier konnte er in der Warm-Up Session erneut seine Fähigkeiten bei regnerischen Bedingungen unter Beweis stellen und den 1. Platz herausfahren. Durch den Ausfall im ersten Rennen ging es am Sonntagmittag bei abtrocknender Strecke von Startplatz 17 aus in den zweiten Rennlauf. Der ADAC Hessen-Thüringen Förderpilot zeigte Kampfgeist und konnte mit packenden Überholmanövern und Zweikämpfen bis auf den 4. Platz nach vorne fahren und belegte den 3. Platz in der Juniorwertung.
Dauenhauer nach dem Rennen: „Es ist schade, dass mein erstes Rennen schon so früh endete, denn ohne den Ausfall wäre sicherlich mehr drin gewesen. Trotzdem bin ich glücklich über die Aufholjagd im zweiten Rennlauf und die Performance, welchen wir vor allem im Regen zeigen konnten. Ich freue mich auf die nächsten Rennen, denn ich denke da ist noch viel Potential.“
Als nächstes steht für Dauenhauer und sein Team das Heimrennen, der NASCAR GP Germany, an. Die NASCAR Whelen Euro Series gastiert vom 22.-24.09. in der Motorsportarena Oschersleben.
Dauenhauer shows a strong catch up
After the past summer break, on the last weekend from August 25th to 27th the NASCAR GP Czech Republic of the NASCAR European Championship took place in Autodrom Most. Tobias Dauenhauer from Mörlenbach started again with his team Bremotion in the #99 Chevrolet Camaro.
Already in the two training sessions on Friday he was able to create a solid base with 2nd and 7th place under warm and dry conditions. Because of rain during the night, qualifying on Saturday morning started under wet conditions. Dauenhauer felt comfortable in his V8 car on the wet track, so he was able to achieve 1st place in the 15-minute qualifying and reached the Superpole (top 10 of the qualifying). Here, the ADAC Hesse Thuringia supported pilot achieved 6th place because the tire pressure had been a bit miscalculated with the drying track.
Starting from the 6th position, the first race took place on Saturday afternoon in bright sunshine. Dauenhauer had a good start and was able to make up positions straight away. But then several participants crashed in the first corner, in which Dauenhauer was involved through no fault of his own and ended up stranded in the gravel bed. End of work after 500 meters...
Dauenhauer kept his head up and focused on the race on Sunday. Here he was able to prove his skills in the warm-up session under rainy conditions again and reached 1st place. Due to the failure in the first race, he started from 17th position in the second race on a drying track Sunday afternoon. The ADAC Hesse Thuringia protégé showed fighting spirit and was able to move up to 4th place with gripping overtaking maneuvers and duels and took 3rd place in the junior classification.
Dauenhauer after the race: “It's a pity that my first race ended so early, because without the retirement I could have done better. Nevertheless, I'm happy about the catch up in the second race and the performance that we were able to show, especially in the rain. I'm looking forward to the next races, because I think there's still a lot of potential."
Next up for Dauenhauer and his team is their home race, the NASCAR GP Germany. The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will be held from September 22nd to 24th in Motorsportarena Oschersleben.
