Dauenhauer zeigt starkes Comeback
Am vergangenen Wochenende vom 16.-18.06.2023 fand der NASCAR GP UK der NASCAR Europameisterschaft unter sonnigen und warmen Verhältnissen auf dem legendären 1.9-kilometer langen Brands Hatch Indy Circuit statt. Neu am Start war hier das deutsche Team Bremotion, welches sein Debüt in dieser Meisterschaft mit einem brandneuen NASCAR Chevrolet Camaro lieferte. Der Mörlenbacher Tobias Dauenhauer (25) wurde hier in der PRO Wertung verpflichtet und sollte seine Erfahrung aus den letzten Jahren mit einbringen.
Schon in den zwei Trainingssessions am Freitag konnte Dauenhauer mit seinem neuen Team zeigen, dass er die schnellsten Zeiten auf Anhieb mitgehen kann und fuhr die 5. schnellste Zeit. Nachdem man am Samstagmorgen im Qualifying mit der Einstellung am Auto noch nicht ganz zufrieden war, ging es am Samstagmittag von Startplatz 11 in den ersten Rennlauf. Dauenhauer konnte sich hier mit spannenden Zweikämpfen und Überholmanövern auf Platz 7 vorkämpfen, den Speed der Spitzengruppe mitgehen und belegte den 3. Platz in der Junior-Wertung. Positiv gestimmt blickte man somit auf das zweite Rennen am Sonntag, wo es von Startplatz 5 ins Rennen ging. Direkt zu Beginn konnte der Mörlenbacher seinen Startplatz behaupten und kämpfte um die Podiumsplätze. Doch dann verlief alles anders wie geplant. Ein Kontrahent vor ihm legte durch einen Defekt eine Ölspur auf welcher Dauenhauer ausrutschte und 2 Plätze verlor. Im weiteren Rennverlauf bekam der 25-Jährige einen Treffer durch ein anderes Fahrzeug aufs Hinterrad und konnte seinen V8-Boliden gerade noch so abfangen. Kurz vor Rennende kam es zu einer Safety-Car Phase durch einen Unfall eines anderen Fahrers. Beim Restart konnte der ADAC Hessen-Thüringen Förderpilot wieder Positionen gut machen, wurde aber nach Rennende wegen einer Kollision mit einem anderen Teilnehmer mit einer Zeitstrafe belangt, welche ihn auf Platz 18 zurückwarf.
Dauenhauer nach dem Rennen: „Im zweiten Rennen hatten wir leider das Rennglück nicht auf unserer Seite und es kam eins nach dem anderen. Trotzdem bin ich mit meinem Comeback in einem neuen Team in der NASCAR Europameisterschaft sehr zufrieden. Wir konnten direkt beim ersten Rennwochenende die Spitzenzeiten mitgehen, Platz 3 in der Juniorwertung einfahren und mein Team konnte wichtige Erfahrung sammeln. Schon jetzt freue ich mich auf das nächste Rennen und kann es schon kaum mehr abwarten!“
Als nächstes gastiert die NASCAR Whelen Euro Series vom 07.-09. Juli im italienischen Autodromo di Vallelunga (Rom). Auch hier wird Dauenhauer mit seinem Team Bremotion wieder an den Start gehen.
Dauenhauer shows strong comeback
Last weekend from June 16-18, the NASCAR GP UK of the NASCAR European Championship took place under sunny and warm conditions on the legendary 1.9-kilometer Brands Hatch Indy Circuit. New at the field was the German team Bremotion, which made its debut in this championship with a brand new NASCAR Chevrolet Camaro. The driver Tobias Dauenhauer (25) was committed here in the PRO class and should contribute his experience from the last few years.
Already in the two training sessions on Friday, Dauenhauer and his new team were able to show that he was able to keep up with the fastest times right away and drove the 5th fastest time. After not being completely satisfied with the car's settings in qualifying on Saturday morning, the German started in the first race on Saturday afternoon from 11th on the grid. Dauenhauer was able to fight his way up to 7th place with exciting duels and overtakings, keep up with the speed of the leading group and took 3rd place in the junior classification. With a positive attitude, he was starting from position 5 on the grid in the second race. Right at the beginning, he was able to defend his starting position and fought for the podium. But then everything didn't turn as planned. A competitor in front of him left a trail of oil due to a defect, on which Dauenhauer slipped away and lost 2 places. As the race progressed, the 25-year-old was hit on the rear wheel by another vehicle and was just able to get his V8 car under control. Shortly before the end of the race, there was a safety car phase due to an accident involving another driver. At the restart, the ADAC Hesse-Thuringia supported pilot was able to make up positions again, but after the end of the race, he was penalized for a collision with another participant, which dropped him back to 18th place.
Dauenhauer after the race: “Unfortunately, in the second race we didn't have racing luck on our side and it came one thing after another. Nevertheless, I'm very satisfied with my comeback with a new team in the NASCAR European Championship. We were able to keep up with the top times on the first race weekend, took 3rd place in the junior classification, and my team was able to gain important experience. I'm already looking forward to the next race and can't wait any longer!"
Next up is the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series from July 7-9 at the Autodromo di Vallelunga (Rome) in Italy. Here, Dauenhauer and his team Bremotion will be at the starting grid again.
