Tobias Dauenhauer (D) Rookie Champion in der EuroNASCAR Series 2020

Tobias Dauenhauer (D), Führung im EuroNASCAR Championat EN2 in Zolder (B) behauptet.

Pressemitteilung 004, 12.10.2021

Tobias Dauenhauer (D),
maintained EuroNASCAR EN2 points’ lead at Zolder (B) .

Press release 004, 12.10.2021
Tobias Dauenhauer (D) was able to maintain his 2021 EuroNASCAR points’ lead! In free practice, Tobias Dauenhauer (23) was already fastest at the four kilometres long race track at Zolder (Belgium) with his #50 MOMO Ford Mustang. Actually, for Tobias Dauenhauer, the race weekend at Zolder could have continued like the most recent EuroNASCAR race at Grobnik (Croatia): pole position and another victory. Reality, however, was different.

“We had made some set-up changes for qualifying. Our problem: overheating brakes, as temperatures were also quite high at Zolder this weekend. I wasn’t quite happy with only fifth place in qualifying, 0.633 seconds down. A new situation for me as so far, I had only been starting from the first or second row in the 2021 EuroNASCAR races.”

As a result, the Saturday race was anything but a walk in the park for Tobias Dauenhauer. He worked his way up to third, still securing a podium slot, and got himself pole position for the Sunday race by virtue of the fastest race lap. “From fifth on the grid, it wasn’t too easy and I also had brake issues again. Still, with third place, I scored valuable points for the EuroNASCAR championship standings!”

Tobias Dauenhauer then started the EuroNASCAR Rennen on Sunday from pole position. As usual, he led the 24-car field at the Zolder race track, but was under considerable pressure from the opposition led by Saturday race winner Naveh Talor (Cyprus) and teammate Martin Doubeck (CZ). A great three-way battle unfolded. While Dauenhauer again had to cope with braking problems, Doubek was able to topple his teammate from the lead on lap 12. After that, Dauenhauer battled for second, but Naveh Talor felt impeded by Tobias Dauenhauer in the chicane, for which the German incurred a 10-second penalty, relegating Dauenhauer from the podium to fourth place.

Nevertheless, Tobias Dauenhauer is the leader in the standings heading to Vallelunga/Rome (I) for the final EuroNASCAR races on 30/31 October 2021, where double championship points are at stake.

“The points’ lead has been reduced, but the Vallelunga circuit suits me. Here, I was already able to score two wins in my first two EuroNASCAR racrs in 2020, a good omen for 2021 as well,” the 23-year-old high-flyer from the 2021 EuroNASCAR is convinced. Tobias Dauenhauer can look back upon a quite successful EuroNASCAR EN2 season with his #50 MOMO Ford Mustang run by the MOMO Hendriks Team from The Netherlands:

4 race wins, 5 pole positions, 9 top 5 and 10 top 10 results so far this year.

In the process, he is leading with 298 points, just ahead of teammate Martin Doubek (CZ) with 295 and Tziortzis Vladimiros (CYP) with 274 points.
